   When it comes to marine diesels, reliability is the most highly valued factor of all.  Each Yanmar diesel has been designed and manufactured using knowledge accumulated steadily by us since our founding in 1912. 

For Sailboats, our GM and JH3 Series provide:

  • Dependable auxiliary propulsion for use in and around port areas.
  • Electricity, hydraulic power, hot water etc.
  • An independent power source in case of emergency.

For motorboat use, Yanmar makes main engines up to 368kW (500hp).  Like sailboat propulsion units, their reliability is legendary; but they are also compact and powerful.  Fuel economy advantages over gasoline are dramatic, as is engine life.  Yanmar diesel engines run further and more efficiently between tank refills while being among the most dependable engines on the market today.

Yanmar Sail Drive Series Engines

  • All Yanmar Saildrives feature the patented double-seal safety technology with audio warning device.
  • These are lightweight, compact diesels with SD20 or SD50 drives.
  • They help eliminate shaft vibrations, noise, alignment and space problems with their direct power-to-prop configuration.
  • Boat balance, maneuverability and thrust are improved.
